According to the UN, Zambia has 20.8% of its population between 15-24 years of age and 36.7 % between 15-35 years of age. Meaning more than 50% of the country’s population are youth, which further means we currently have the largest youth population in our country’s history.
OTK has responded to this by putting in place a free training program for carpenters wishing to shift from the use of timber to the use of OTK light steel channels. This program has empowered the youth of this country by giving them the skills necessary to earn a living by charging for their services, and it also greatly increases their career development opportunities.
The shift from the use of timber provides great benefits to the environment as it reduced the number of
trees being cut down which has a positive effect on the ecosystem.
